The fox’s eyes

Fox Eyes explores the struggles of adolescents confronting inner shadows and psychological challenges through a narrative that interweaves reality and fantasy. The story unfolds from the perspective of Meng-Si, who experiences family discord and feelings of loneliness. By introducing the fantastical element of the “Fox Eyes” and the depression-symbolizing monster, the project externalizes inner pressure, allowing the audience to perceive the character’s psychological conflict and struggles directly. The presence of Meng-Si’s friend Xiao-Ju and a rabbit plush toy symbolizes companionship and support, serving as vital forces that help her confront fear and embrace past wounds. Drawing from psychological theories and literary references—such as post-traumatic growth and the concept of individuation—the project deepens emotional resonance and conveys themes of psychological recovery. Ultimately, Fox Eyes reflects on family relationships, adolescent mental health, and the importance of social support. It delivers a message of hope and resilience, encouraging viewers to accept themselves and move forward with courage when facing their own inner “monsters.”
