Can・Light
This work explores the potential of artificial intelligence in physical motion control and the shaping of perceptual behavior. Constructed from aluminum cans and multiple motors arranged in a dynamic array, the piece is precisely driven by AI-generated parameter logic, forming a responsive kinetic surface. Under real-time control, the reflective cans rotate, tilt, and shift out of alignment, sculpting light into a flowing substance that evokes flickering clouds, shifting dawn and dusk hues, or the fleeting glimmer along an aircraft’s wing.
The title “Can・Light” carries layered meanings: “Can” signifies parameters, participation, and reference, revealing AI’s multifaceted role in the generation of movement; “Light” transcends illumination, becoming both programmable and perceptible medium. Balancing between precise calculation and random deviation, the work presents a language of light and motion born from the collaboration between AI and physical structures, inviting viewers to perceive the poetic resonance and power of artificial intelligence through the interplay of light and movement.
